In Her Life

While The Popuplady is consumed with all things pop-up, she has many other interests and interesting people around her. She thinks many of her visitors will find them interesting too.

The Music World

Interested in Jazz and the up-coming artists? Click here to follow Grammy-nominated music producer, Benny Cha-Cha, jazz bassist. Ben plays with The Dred Scott Trio who have performed at The Newport and The Saratoga Jazz Festivals and in Cannes at the AMFAR fund-raisers. He was also on bass with The Hot Five backing up Queen Esther at Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center.

The Literary World

Here is a fascinating woman who is dear to The Popuplady. Jessica DuLong went from Stanford University and the dot.com life to be one of the only female fireboat engineers in the world. She is a Heroine of 911 having run the engines of the fireboat, The John J. Harvey, during the conflagration. Her last book, MY RIVER CHRONICLES: Rediscovering the Work that Built America: A Personal and Historical Journey, Free Press, 2009, has been praised by literary giants, such as Gay Talese. See how this dynamic woman is fighting for America by reading about her, seeing her on CBS Sunday Morning and NY 1 with Sam Roberts of The NY Times, and much more. Ms. DuLong’s newest book, From Dust to Deliverance: Untold Stories from the Maritime Evacuation on September 11th captures “I was there” description of an evacuation larger than the 1940 Dunkirk one.

Things I believe in

There is an organization, Songs for Kids, that brings the joy and distraction of music to children who are experiencing horrendous health problems. If you want to see good being done in the world, watch this 4 minute video from CBS. I hope you will be moved to contribute to this unusual and ultra-worthy cause.
